How Can We Help?
We meet our clients where they are. That means tailoring psychotherapy services to fit clients’ needs on a moment-by-moment basis. Clients and their therapist collaboratively choose which modalities feel most effective.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is an evidence-based, structured, and goal-oriented approach that helps you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. By replacing them with healthier perspectives and actions, CBT can support you in managing anxiety, depression, stress, and everyday challenges more effectively.
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT is a humanistic evidence-based form of psychotherapy that helps individuals and couples understand, express, regulate, and transform their emotions to improve mental health and relationships.
The belief here is that emotions are central to the human experience.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps clients develop “psychological flexibility” meaning the ability to stay present, accept difficult thoughts and feelings, and take actions guided by personal values.
The belief here is that pain and discomfort are natural parts of life and we can learn ways to accept (rather than try to control or avoid) this.
Somatic Techniques
Somatic therapy focuses on the mind-body connection, using techniques that help you recognize and release tension, anxiety, or stress stored in the body. Through guided exercises, breathwork, and body awareness practices, you can cultivate greater resilience, emotional regulation, and mental health.
Integrated Psychotherapy
This approach combines techniques from multiple therapeutic modalities to address the full spectrum of your emotional, psychological, and relational needs.
By drawing from evidence-based practices, integrated psychotherapy acts as a flexible, personalized framework that adapts to your unique life situation and goals.
Nervous System Regulation & PolyVagal Approaches
Here we focus on the body’s natural way of shifting between different states of safety, connection, and defense. We learn about what has your nervous system moving into a stress state like fight, flight, freeze, or fawn and how to bring you back to safety and help maintain a regulated nervous system.
Death, Grief & Loss
The focus here is understanding, processing, accepting, and integrating the emotional pain of loss so you can reconnect with life in a meaningful way. The goal is not to “get over” the loss but learn how to be with it and adapt in your life by carrying it alongside you.
Internal Family Systems/Parts Work
Parts work focuses on the inner components responsible for unhelpful behaviour, emotional distress, and the stuckness between "knowing better" and taking action. It empowers clients to lean into curiosity, courage and compassion.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. Research consistently shows that online psychotherapy sessions are just as effective as in-person therapy for most people. Our secure video conferencing platform ensures a confidential, comfortable experience that allows you to connect with a licensed therapist from anywhere in Canada.
What's the difference between individual and partner therapy?
Individual psychotherapy focuses on personal growth, emotional healing, and coping strategies tailored to your life experiences and goals. Partner therapy, on the other hand, helps couples navigate communication difficulties, build trust, and strengthen their emotional connection in a safe, supportive environment.
How long are psychotherapy sessions, and how often should I book an appointment?
Therapy sessions are available in 50-minute and 80-minute formats. The frequency of sessions depends on your goals and progress; some clients prefer weekly appointments, while others choose bi-weekly or monthly sessions. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine the most beneficial schedule.
Do you offer affordable psychotherapy options?
Yes. Conscious Connections provides low-cost therapy options through counselling interns and qualifying psychotherapists. Rates start at $90 per session, making mental health support more accessible to individuals, couples, and families.
Can I use my insurance for psychotherapy?
Most of our psychotherapy services are covered by private insurance providers under “psychotherapy services” or “psychological services.” You’ll receive a detailed receipt after each session for reimbursement purposes. However, it’s important to confirm your coverage details with your provider before booking.
Does OHIP cover psychotherapy services?
At this time, OHIP only covers psychiatric services. Psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist or Counselling Intern is not covered by OHIP but may be eligible under private insurance plans.
How much does private psychotherapy cost?
The average price for private psychotherapy sessions in Ontario typically ranges from $120 to $200 per 50-minute session, depending on the therapist’s qualifications and experience. At Conscious Connections, rates vary by provider; $165 to book with a Registered Psychotherapist, $145 to book with a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist, and $90 for Low-Cost Therapy with a Counselling Intern/Associate.
What are my options after a free consultation psychotherapy booking?
After your complimentary consultation, you can decide whether to proceed with ongoing therapy sessions, explore different therapists if you want to find the best fit, or consider other support services we offer. Your therapist will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals and preferences.
